Lakers Keep Lamar Odom for Another Four Years

When you’re simultaneously getting text messages from Kobe Bryant and Dwanye Wade, you know you’re a coveted basketball player.

Lamar Odom has reportedly accepted a $33 million offer, spread out over four years. The 6 foot 10 inch forward has played a key role in the Lakers’ success, and upper management was keen to realize his importance in last year’s championship season.

Following a few weeks of close conversations with the Heat (and Dwyane Wade himself) about an attempt to woo the versatile forward away from the Lakers, Odom has decided to stay put.

Odom provided a postseason punch off the bench for his Laker squad, averaging 12.3 points, third-best on the team, and 9.1 rebounds, second-best on the team, during the playoffs.

Odom has turned around what looked like a mini crumbling of the situation in Los Angeles. Notwithstanding the loss of Trevor Ariza, coach Phil Jackson strongly considered walking away from the game and putting an end to his coaching career.

On the other hand, the team did secure a contract with the Houston Rockets’ Ron Artest, an All-Star and one of the game’s best defenders.

At this point, only one thing needs to be asked.

Another championship in LA?
