The acoustic guitar is the age old favorite dating back to 1779. It wasn’t until the 1930′s that the electric guitar screamed its way on to the music scene. Instruments that inspired the acoustic guitar have been around for a thousand years and include the lute and oud.

Many great bands have used the acoustic guitar in their steller unplugged sessions, including Nirvana and Pearl Jam. The acoustic guitar produces heartfelt soulful sound and has no outside form of amplification.

Have no fear if you are considering trying to learn the acoustic guitar, it is quite easy and enjoyable. Lessons on the acoustic guitar are fun if they are well structured and varied. For the beginner, finding the right guitar is probably one of the most important steps before looking for lessons. Be sure to get an acoustic guitar suitable for your particular body style.

Stop right there! Don’t make the mistake of borrowing an acoustic guitar from a buddy. It is worth it to own your own. It can be used or brand new, but make sure it is a good fit for you.

Take a look online or in your local yellow pages. You won’t have to look far to find a great deal on an acoustic guitar. Also check out your local music store, just be sure to ask a lot of questions.

You are now the proud owner of an acoustic guitar. Now its starting to get fun. Now, how do you plan to learn to play? We all have schedules that vary wildly so this may be a challenge. Here are a few options to start strumming that guitar like a pro:

Private acoustic guitar lessons-This is a good place to start. A good instructor can really help you progress quickly. They will be there to answer all of your questions, and help decrease the learning curve.

There are disadvantages of taking private guitar lessons. You will have to go to the instructors place of business at set times unless they agree to come to your house. This will definitely increase the cost. Again, lesson will be at set times that may be hard to fit into your busy schedule.

Online Acoustic Guitar Lessons-In this day and age, it is really easy to learn just about anything you can think of through an online course. There are many acoustic guitar courses available, both free and paid. I recommend finding and purchasing a good course as they are more likely to be better organized.

I recommend using a paid online guitar course because most are only a small one time fee to get you started learning immediately, all from home sweet home, or anywhere you have access to a computer. Feel free to use the money you saved to grab a nicer guitar when the time is right.

Thanks for reading this article. Follow these easy steps and you will be on you way to campfire stardom. I know you can do it. Just take the first step!

How to Learn Guitar with Online Lessons

A lot of people argue about if its better to take Online Guitar Lessons or Guitar Lessons with a “Real” Teacher… i always answer this: “Learning guitar its up to you”.

A teacher can’t play for you and Online Guitar Lessons won’t teach you anything if you don’t practice… the more you put from yourself, the more you take.

If you don’t have time or money for a guitar teacher, there are some great guitar courses that work really great like Jamorama.

Here are the Pros and Cons of Online Guitar Lessons:

Pros:
- They’re really cheap and you can have lessons for a whole year (or even more) for less than just a few hours with a teacher.

- You can practice and study anywhere at any time, they’re ideal if you have a full time job or want to spend the day with friends, girlfriend/boyfriend, children or your family.

- Some of them like Jamorama are really great learning systems, you can learn how to play scales, chords and other techniques by playing cool classic and modern rock songs, making the learning process something fun is a MUST cause you’ll be practicing for a long time and if the lessons are boring you won’t be motivated to continue.

Now lets check the Cons.

Cons:

- If you learn just in your home you won’t be in contact with other musicians, this isn’t a real problem if you already have friends that play guitar, bass, drums or whatever.

- You can’t ask anybody for more info, but then again this is fixed if you have musician friends or if you ask in forums… its all about to get in contact with the people who know about this.

Remember this, it doesn’t really matters if you take traditional guitar lessons with a real teacher or if you take an online course, there is something more important than that… and that’s YOU.

This article was inspired by Dimebag Darrell

This article was inspired by Dimebag Darrell

I just want to share with you this article i found at Riff Church, i think some of you can find this helpful (i found it really helpful).

Right now i feel kinda stuck with some stuff, every time i pick my guitar i find myself playing the same thing over and over again, different notes, scales, etc but the riff idea its always the same… the riff’s great but it sucks to don’t come with new stuff.

Today i was reading again a great guitar book that always helps me a lot, it’s Dimebag Darrell’s Riffer Madness and it kick ass, if you play metal you have to read it.

Dimebag’s a dude that i admire a lot and i want to share what i learned with my own words… the message its really inspiring and i want to inspire you to become a better guitar player too.

When you find yourself playing in a rut remember this two things:

1- You’re not the only dude with the problem… we all go through this from time to time

2- Don’t schiz out and quit guitar! right now i’m feeling stuck but i know i won’t be like this forever… it’s just a matter of work. Keep playing, learn more stuff and the rut will disappear alone… its up to you.

Go to Riff Church and read the rest of this Tips to dig out a playing rut
