Leave Depression Behind in Five Steps

Depression is like the dungeon of your mind, dark, gloomy, filled with cobwebs. It is a frightening place to be and it often seems that you cant find the way out by yourself. Anti-depressants may help, but they are not the complete solution, more often than not. What you want is to feel like your old self, to feel good again, to have that reason for living. Here are five steps you can take to get out of the dungeon of depression, naturally.

1. Take action. Action forces the mind to start thinking about the future which breaks you out of that depressive cycle of thinking. Too often sufferers of depression are caught in a cycle of thinking about the past. Action gets you moving forward and thinking about the future. Action also implies movement, and a healthy mind needs a healthy body, and healthy bodies move! Take small actions, which lead to more small actions, which will lead to larger actions. Remember, a journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step.

2. Get your sleep, and make sure it is good quality sleep. When you are depressed, you may find that you sleep more than usual, or less than usual. Either one will contribute to your depressive mood pattern. Set a schedule for sleep and stick with it. Go to bed when you did when you weren’t depressed, and set you alarm to get up with your usual number of hours of sleep. Even though it feels “wrong,” forcing yourself into a normal sleep pattern will help you move out of the depressive cycle.

3. Mind your nutrition. Eat properly to keep your blood sugar balanced throughout the day. Take good nutritional supplements as there are a number of vitamin and mineral deficiencies that affect mood and can lead to depression. Men especially, make sure you are getting enough selenium.

4. Get more exercise. Study after study has shown that moving the body in intense, sustained exercise daily reduces depression. Why? Because intense, sustained exercise creates production of feel-good chemicals in the brain such as serotonin and beta-endorphins. Out of shape? Start where you are, and always check with your doctor before beginning an exercise routing.

5. Try brainwave entrainment recordings that are designed to eliminate symptoms of depression. This can be an excellent adjunct therapy to anti-depressants and other treatments for depression. You can create the optimum brain state for healing depression by using brainwave entrainment recordings specifically designed to address depression, and for reaching deep meditative states. Brainwave entrainment recordings have been scientifically proven effective through decades of research, and using the right combination of protocols will train your brain to create the pattern of a non-depressed person, quickly, naturally, and without drugs.

The Causes of Migraine Headaches

August 6, 2009 by Marion Jones

Headaches of any type are always painful to the sufferer. However, some headaches, such as migraines, for instance, can cause even more problems than just a headache. These problems could be nausea, light sensitivity and a banging pain in the head. Sometimes the headache acts on one side of the head, and other times you can feel the pain on both sides of the head at the same time.

The real causes of migraine headaches has not yet been found, although there are some theories why we have migraine headaches. The most common theory is that a change in the blood flow within the brain is one of the triggers that causes migraine headaches. Another theory about migraine headache is that it could possibly be caused by pain sensing chemicals called neuropeptides.

Many medical professionals speculate that neuropeptides ease the muscle that surrounds the cranial blood vessels. This relaxation makes the blood vessels dilate. Then those relaxed blood vessels increase the flow of blood and other cranial fluid to the brain. This increase in fluids is thought to be the cause of migraine headaches.

These cranial fluids are the cause inflammation, pain, sensitivity, tissue and blood vessel inflammation during the time of the migraine headaches. Some people think that the aura that is sometimes seen during a migraine headache is caused by the constriction of the blood vessels that became dilated during the starting phase of the migraine headache.

Another theory about the reason for migraine headaches has been associated with the genetics of inheritance. These theories say that a child of migraine sufferers will have a 50% probability of having migraine headaches too.

The chances of inheriting migraine headaches become even greater if both parents are known to suffer from this painful type of headache. Should both parents be known to have frequent migraine headaches the chances of the child inheriting migraine headache symptoms is about 70%.

Even though many professionals are persuaded that inheritance plays a big role in migraine headaches, the genes that are considered to be the causes of migraine headaches have not been identified or even isolated yet. When we start to experience migraine headaches the only warning signs that we may expect to receive are a throbbing pain in the temple area and slight sickness.

As the symptoms of the migraine progresses, the pain becomes much more severe. Unfortunately, since the causes of migraine headaches have yet to be found and we don’t know what triggers these attacks, there are no medications to cure this kind of headaches yet.

An Anxiety Symptoms Test Can Reveal If You Are Part Of The Increasing Number Of Anxiety Disorder Victims

July 29, 2009 by Ron G Smith

It seems odd but in these modern times anxiety disorders are on the rise. When I say anxiety disorders you can group panic disorders & panic attacks & anxiety attacks together. They are mostly one and the same.

Is there a reason for the escalation in people suffering these debilitating attacks? I’m sure there is & I’m sure the scientific community will happily produce a number of factors they see as responsible. It doesn’t make them any less serious or frightening for the victim.

These anxiety disorders have a wide range of symptoms & you may not even be aware you are a sufferer. None of us are born sufferers but when they strike they strike suddenly and with venom. You can get a clearer picture of whether you might be a sufferer by taking an anxiety symptoms test.

Anxiety symptoms tests usually involve checking yes or no to a series of simple questions. You can then add up your score and read the advice given. After reading your score you can take the assistance given and seek further help to fight back against these attacks.

You might find a couple of the anxiety symptoms test questions to be a bit simple. Nevertheless they aren’t, they are in there for a purpose. It all hangs on which particular question you tick. You might tick 2 or 3 unimportant questions but then again you might tick only 1 very important one.

Take the question “Do you find it hard to sit still, and need to fiddle”. I often feel like this but I don’t see it as a warning symptom. But stick it together with a “yes” for the question about racing heartbeat & shortness of breath and you might well have a problem. If you suspect you may be experiencing symptoms go & take a test right now.

You might even be relieved to learn that this is what’s been bothering you for a while. If you are a sufferer, rest assured there is help at hand. Anxiety attacks can be beaten in several ways.

My wife suffered panic attacks while driving for a while until we discovered a cure in a product called PanicAway. After trying many other treatments & remedies this is the only product that worked.

Top Tips To Natural Healing At Home

June 30, 2009 by Ray Devine

Many of us will have been taught to hide or cure our physical symptoms on our own, or even to have surgery or medication to get rid of them. When we actually do this, we are telling our subconciousness that, as an individual, we aren’t important, and we insist that we haven’t the time to heal ourselves naturally. But, if we look at the first symptoms that we have had, then we can treat these as the first indication that something is untoward. We can treat ourselves with natural remedies and cure most of our health related issues. You will find that your body will tell you the truth and you will learn from your own emotions and challenges.

When you look at yourself in the mirror, you may recognise that your own emotional pain as a “physical art form,” and that it will transform before you and your body will heal a devastating disease. Personally and by the age of 35, I felt comfortable in my new clothes, home and car. Many different companies hired me to help them with their business problems, and I would normally work at least 14 hours a day.

However, one day came and it was all over. I was with a medical specialist who diagnosed me with rosacea – an incurable, deforming, disfiguring facial skin disease. By treating myself as a machine that would continue non-stop had caught up with me. I would see no mercy from the disease as it continued to worsen over the next 5 years. All of my financial resources were spent going to medical specialists and naturopathic practitioners – I wanted to understand how my own immune system could heal and repair my own body.

I believed that my body was its own environment and chose not to take any form of medication that the doctors would look to provide me with. After speaking to fifty doctors, I was still finding myself searching for answers. This made me more determined to prove there was something else I could do to help me heal myself naturally, but after all this time had gone by I began to doubt myself.

By the time I had reached 40, my skin was red and looked inflamed, and I would need to rid myself of boils on a daily basis. Also, the sight was going in my eyes and I could not read or drive any longer. This made a huge impact on the dreams I had about travelling and seeing the world, and I came to realise why people actually take their own lives because of the pain they are going through.

After this, I met a Chinese doctor who gave me a diagnosis that was different from all of the other physicians. He said that the disease wasn’t just in my face, but it was concerned with the natural biological rhythms of my body not being in harmony – and this resulted in my face being directly affected because of the emotional fear and stress. This doctor also saw other symptoms of exhaustion through other indicators when he examined me. He said that my body felt lifeless and frail, and that I must find peace at whatever price. I was happy that there was a different opinion.

After this encounter I decided to begin emotional therapy. I first addressed the fears which had consumed me since my diagnoses, and then went back further through my past. I looked to face my work addiction and decided that I needed to treat my mental disease of being a workaholic – as I had denied a lot of personal things in life. I had felt a personal feeling of worthiness and thus needed to push the addiction forward. I wanted to stay busy and this resulted in exhaustion which caused me to feel angry and resentful because I had done this. I had served others for many years and this had impacted negatively on me and I didn’t stop doing it until my friends stopped me.

After one year of sharing my painful story, crying and releasing my pent-up emotions and work addiction patterns within a safe community, a miracle took place. I healed physically without scars and my eye sight returned to normal. For years I had been on a healthy diet and exercise program that also assisted my body in this transformation. My miracle-healing story became my path. It was natural for me to go into the holistic field and teach people how to heal, prevent physical health challenges, and find greater joy.
