Interior Design Expertise Makes All The Difference In The World

September 19, 2009 by Janice Nickole

Are you ready to incorporate the “WOW” factor into your new dream home? Whether it’s your dream home or an existing home that needs a design makeover, your first step is to hire an Interior Designer.

Why is it necessary to consider hiring a professional Interior Designer? Simply, because most of us do not have the expertise or lack the skill that it takes to decorate and design. You could end up spending more money on costly mistakes.

Leave it to a skilled and trained designer to bring your design dreams to fruition. Let their expertise open an endless world of possibilities when it comes to space planning, color, art, style and so much more.

So hiring the right Interior Designer is your next step. So how do you go about that? You should absolutely feel that your designer represents you to the best of their knowledge. How? They know how to listen to you as you share your desires and goals.

I have found as a practicing Interior Designer for over twenty years, that this seems to be where the problem lies in most cases. Clients have shared with me that some designers don’t know how to listen.

I suggest that you interview two or three designers before you hire one. It is a well known fact that you can talk to ten designers and get ten different design concepts. But your goal here is to hire the one you feel most comfortable with.

You’ll notice many personality types but I’m sure you’ll find one that you feel is on the “same page” as you. You should feel comfortable in the fact that your designer listens to your desires and goals.

Listen to your designer as well. They will share their design background and projects they have completed that will help you in your selection. Although you’ll want to know how years they have been practicing, the real importance lies in their confidence and professionalism.

Besides being very valuable in their skills and expertise, Interior Designers also come equipped with the knowledge of the best vendors in the industry. They know who to go to as well as who “not” to go to. Could you trust your decision?

Stopping Common Indoor Bugs

September 19, 2009 by Owen Jones

The common indoor bugs we see anywhere in the world are flies, spiders, fleas and beetles. No-one likes to see a bug indoors, so most people go to almost any extremes to eradicate these common indoor bugs. Less common indoor bugs may be woodlice, earwigs, scorpions and millipedes or centipedes, although they are not less unwelcome.

It does not matter where you live in the world, it can be very difficult to keep these common indoor bugs outside, unless you go to the extremes of keeping all your windows and doors closed all of the time, which is obviously impossible. I now live in Thailand and I know for certain that this is not an option.

So, just what can you do about it? Well, let’s deal with all the flying bugs first, because of all the common indoor bugs, I find them the most obnoxious indoor bug. They are very irritating, buzzing around your head and mosquitoes and other flies can produce irritating sores and besides that, all flies spread disease. I hate to see them walking on food, knowing that they have more than likely just come off some dung heap somewhere and now they are spitting on my food in order to taste it with their dirty feet!

My first line of defence is fine-mesh door and widow screens. They are not dear and can be added retrospectively to any window. My window meshes slide, so they can cover only one half of the window at a any one time, but I do not think that’s a problem. You can still set up cross-winds, by opening two or more windows at opposing ends of a room. I just love to see the flies on the mesh trying to get in by day and the mosquitoes doing the same by night. At night, it is wise to turn on as little light indoors as possible so as not to attract these common indoor insects.

My second line of defence is natural predators – lizards, like Geckos (Jin Jok, in Thai). Some people don’t like them in the house either. I can’t say I’m all that keen on them indoors myself, but they are hard to keep out and they do eat hundreds, if not thousands, of indoor bugs every day. I like to see them lying in wait on the outside of the mesh, ready to pounce on any bug trying to wriggle its way through the wires.

My third line of defence is an indoor bug zapper. You know, the electric, handheld bug zapper that looks like a child’s tennis racquet. The come in two forms: battery and rechargeable kinds. They are brilliant at trapping and annihilating any flying bug. The inset literally explodes and vaporizes on contact with the fully-charged wires of the indoor bug zapper. If you haven’t tried using one, you really should. They are most satisfying. These three defences will keep your house quite much free of flying insects.

The creeping common indoor bugs are less of a problem really. Door screens on self-closers will keep 99% of them out and the Geckos will help too. Spiders can get in pretty very easily, but then, I don’t mind them too much as long as they keep out of my way, as they consume other bugs too. They are on our side to be honest. However, for those who can not bear to catch them and throw them outside, the handheld indoor bug zapper works a treat on spiders too.

Fleas can be a problem, if you keep cats or dogs, but then if you wash or dust the animal once a month, you should be able to keep those common indoor bugs under control fairly easily. However, there are two final measures that we use. Every week, before we go out for the day, we spray every room with fly killer and every six-months we spray any rugs or carpets with an insect killer containing permethrin, which will survive washing and vacuuming for that long without losing its ability to kill common indoor bugs on contact. If you follow these measures, you should be able to keep your home or office quite free of the most common indoor bugs and any less common indoor bug as well.

Have you ever used an indoor bug zapper? If you haven’t, or if you want to get an indoor bug zapper, just click one of the links to our website or blog. You can get a unique content version of this article from the Uber Article Directory.

Investor Visas; How to be Eligible

September 17, 2009 by Sam McDougall Turner
Filed under Experts

Moving to the states can be a daunting and overall difficult process. Being granted a visa is not always straight forward either, however there are a few ways to improve the chances of your application being successful. Probably the most common way to achieve this is by choosing an investor visa. There are two kinds, temporary and permanent.

The temporary investor visa is called the E-2.

The E-2 visa is popularly known as the Temporary Green Card. The reason for this is that there is no upper limit to the visa term and therefore extensions to your stay and visa renewals can be granted on a limitless number of occasions, provided that the qualifying investment is still in existence and all other conditions for the E-2 visa are still being satisfied.

This visa is for foreign people who have made investments in a US business or businesses to move to the US in order to oversee and direct the businesses that they have invested in.

You may be eligible for this visa if you are the investor, or if you are an executive, manager or essential employee of the foreign company that made the investment and you and the major shareholders of the company are the nationals of a country that has an ongoing Treaty of Trade, Friendship and Commerce with the United States.

In the case of executives and corporate personnel, only nationals from the same country as the corporation are eligible. You will have to show that an investment in the United States has already been made, or that your company is actively in the process of investing. Therefore if you possess significant financial assets, the E-2 visa may be for you.

The E-2 visa may be suitable for those who wish to invest a significant sum of money in order to either purchase an existing business or to set up a new business. The E-2 visa is not suitable for silent investors as the investor is required to play an active role in the management and direction of the investment enterprise.

Because investing in a US business and getting a visa is so uniquely complex, in order to ensure that your investment qualifies you for an E-2 visa, it is advised that you should seek competent, professional legal advice before investing. In order to get the best advice, you should contact a recommended business broker that has knowledge and experience in the criteria needed in an investment to make you eligible for an E-2 visa.

Once you have chosen your preferred business, our law firm will be able to assist you in the legal process of applying for the E-2 investor visa. Please visit www.visas4america.com for advice on applying for an investor visa.

Information On Skiing : Booking A Skiing Vacation

August 24, 2009 by Mark Walters

We look at taking a ski vacation in this installment of our learn to ski guide.

Character and ambiance are just two of the many features of a resort that you will need to think about before selecting the right one for your ski trip; other considerations being budget, location, and what facilities are offered. So, let’s look at each of those important considerations individually

Firstly, location; the most popular destinations are Canada, France and the USA, but Andorra, Austria, Bulgaria, Italy and Switzerland all attract large numbers of skiers too. While prices may vary a great deal during different times of the year, the better-known countries will most likely be more expensive. Going at the start or end of the ski season can result in considerable discounts.

As far as costs go, just some of the outlay for your trip will go towards travel and lodging as well as expenses for food and beverages, but you must also remember that you will be paying for passes, maybe lessons, equipment rental, and a very important, but often over-looked expense, insurance. When searching for affordable air fare and lodging, remember to ask about the costs of these other items. Because there is little competition for retailers in the mountain resorts, prices tend to be higher than they are at home. Taking whatever you can with you and paying for things online in advance can help to minimize outgoings.

Every country is different and every resort is different, so after you have decided on a location, make sure that the quality and types of facilities in which you are interested are offered by that country and/or resort. Look at how many slopes they have, the availability of ski schools, what other activities can be undertaken (snowboarding, tobogganing, ice skating, etc.), what sort of lodging is available (hotels, chalets, dormitories, etc.) and the number of bars and restaurants. Prices for all of these things can be drastically different from resort to resort, and you cannot rely on the price to give you a clue as to quality. Being cost conscious does not mean that you have to give up amenities and services, however, when you take in to account that countries like Bulgaria and Andorra are home to ski resorts that rival those of the better-known properties in more prominent countries.

While almost an intangible, it is also important to consider the character and ambiance of the ski resort you choose. Will you be happy with a modern, newly built ski facility out in the middle of nowhere, or is it important to be near a historic mountain town with lots of local color and flavor? If you see yourself sitting by a relaxing fire and turning in early, you will want to find a quiet resort that does not encourage a lot of partying; but if you want to party on your vacation, that will affect your choice, as well. Each resort has a little something different to offer, and it will make your stay more enjoyable if you do a little research on the front end to see what matches your tastes and expectations.

No need to worry about international toll calls when the internet is available to assist you with your research – to find the prices, services, and amenities of a resort, visit each one’s official website, and don’t just take it from them, type the resort name and ‘+ review’ into a search engine to see what other visitors have said about it.

Who Has Scored The Most Goals In World Cup Soccer History?

August 22, 2009 by Amy Nutt

Almost every culture around the world has some type of connection to the history of football/soccer. Such cultures as the Ancient Greeks, Persians, Vikings, The Chinese, Japanese, and much more, played a game that is much like todays football/soccer. For instance, The Chinese played “footballer” games dating as far back as about 3000 years ago. However, it was in England that soccer / football really began to grow in popularity. After becoming popular in England, soccer became a widely loved sport throughout the world. The celebrated FIFA World cup led the way to the rise of soccer stars, and conferred world soccer records holders such as the player who has scored the most goals in world cup soccer history.

Brazilian professional footballer Ronaldo Nazario de Lima has scored the most goals in Fifa World Cup history. Ronaldo Lus Nazario de Lima, more generally known as Ronaldo, was born in September 18, 1976. In 1993, Ronaldo began his professional soccer/footballer career playing for Cruzeiro. In his single year with Cruzeiro, he accumulated 12 goals in 14 games and led the team to win their first Copa do Brasil championship. After playing with Cruzeiro, in 1994, he joined with the Dutch football team PSV. In 1996, in his final year with PSV, Ronaldo aided the team to win the Dutch Cup.

Ronaldo is also an established national footballer for Brazil. He has played in 97 international games, accumulating 62 goals and standing 15 goals away from the Brazilian national scoring record. He was a member of the Brazilian team that won the 1994 and 2002 World Cups. During the 2006 World Cup soccer game, Ronaldo became the highest goal scorer in the history of the World Cup with his fifteenth goal. “The Phenomenon” in English, Ronaldo made the number 9 famous and made it tantamount with the position of center forward. During his footballer career in Europe, Ronaldo became one of the most celebrated strikers throughout the world after he won his first Ballon d’Or as the European Footballer of the Year in 1997, and then once more in 2002. He is also one of only two players to have won the FIFA Player of the Year award three times. In 2007, he was named as one of the best starting eleven of all-time by France Football and was named to the FIFA 100, a list of the greatest footballers compiled by his fellow Brazilian soccer star, Pel.

To many contemporary footballers, Ronaldo is a living icon who has been credited with encouraging a stronger marketing interest in soccer throughout the world, particularly because of his relationship with Nike who had in the past spent their marketing resources and time primarily on Basketball.

The soccer that we know today was shaped during the 1960s. Increased media coverage and TV broadcasts has made the game more popular than ever. With soccer stars such as David Beckham in the spotlight, the popularity of soccer will continue to grow.

Affordable Stag and Hen Events In A Recession

August 21, 2009 by Mariko Conisuellian

As we all know, we are in the middle of a huge economic downturn and lots of people are in debt with jobs that are by no means secure, and as a result, many couples are having to plan their weddings with a limited budget.

In the last ten years or so, stag weekends or even weeks have become commonplace, although in the last 6 months, people have started to go old-school in that respect. Due to the recession, people are obviously having to clamp down on their spending and so are having to shorten or cut out unessential luxuries all together.

Instead of weekends abroad, it is becoming increasingly popular to spend activity weekends in the UK. You can arrange multi activity days or weekends for far less than a foreign trip. Typically you can have a high quality days activities for 60 – 80 per person, which in many ways will be more memorable than a longer foreign break.

Another main advantage that UK stag parties have is that you will find more people are able to participate as the financial prospect of going abroad may put many people off, and so with more people taking part, the event is sure to be more memorable than it may have been otherwise.

Activities like karting, golf, indoor sky diving, indoor skiing, off road driving, quad bikes, archery and clay pigeon shooting are ideal for an eventful stag day / weekend. A good venue will organise all of the events for you, usually as well as a place to stay, removing a lot of pressure from the shoulders of the best man, while appearing as though he has put in an enormous amount of effort.

You should try to include as broad a range of activities as possible in your stag day or weekend as there will undoubtedly be a wide range of people attending and so a wide range of preferences. Including various activities that vary in physical input is a good way to ensure that everyone has a good time.

Adding a competitive element into the day or weekend will make the weekend more memorable and enjoyable because it will feel like the activities have a point. Including small prizes for the winners at the end is a good idea as well.

Steve Irwin – An Aussie Ambassador For Crocodiles And Australia Zoo

August 11, 2009 by Jennifer Schellington
Filed under Experts

It’s nearly 3 years ago since the death of Steve Irwin, the famous Australian crocodile hunter that captured the hearts of the world with his heroic encounters with crocodiles and snakes. He was a real ambassador for Australia with his larger than life personality and of course, his strong Australian accent. The word “Crikey!” will forever be cemented with Steve Irwin. [I:http://ethorities.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/JenniferSchellington4.jpg]

Steve will be best remembered for his dare devil encounters with crocodiles and snakes. His career really took off in 1992 when Steve and his wife Terri decided to forgo a honeymoon to embark on a crocodile rescue mission and film it for a wildlife documentary. This was the start of the “Crocodile Hunter” series. More than 150 episodes were recorded and today they have been viewed in over 140 countries by over 500 million people across the globe.

Steve’s love of reptiles comes from his hero, his Dad. His parents owned a Reptile Park in Queensland and Steve took an active role in the running of the park. Not only that, his Dad would take Steve with him on his many adventurous field trips. He would visit the Australian desert to study snakes or rescue crocodiles from populated areas of Queensland.

It was at the Reptile Park that Steve met his wife Terri. She was visiting from Eugene, Oregon which is in the centre of the USA. Steve was 29 and Terri was 27. It was apparently love at first site. They had lots in common. Terri herself was into wildlife and had started her won wildlife rehabilitation programme in 1986 called “Cougar Country.” She was also a Veterinary Technician in a veterinary hospital.

In the 1990′s Steve’s parents retired from the reptile park handing it over to Steve and Terri. They renamed it Australia Zoo. Today the zoo is probably the most famous zoo in Australia, because of Steve’s crocodile encounters.

In July 1998 Terri gave birth to their first child. She was named Bindi after one of Steve’s favourite crocodiles and it is also an aboriginal word meaning “Young Girl” . In 2003 Robert was born, a mirror image of his father.

Tragedy struck on 4th September 2006 when an accident killed Steve Irwin. He was out shooting a documentary about the dangerous creatures of the sea. How ironic that it was a mere barb from a stingray that ended Steve’s life. His death stunned the people of Australia and in fact the entire world.

Steve was a legend when it came to his charity work. Today Terri, Bindi and Robert continue on with Steve’s plans. Australia Zoo is an awesome day out and continues to attract both National and International travellers. It is only an hour or so drive north of Brisbane and should be added to your itinerary if you intend to travel down the East Coast of Australia. If you love animals or have kids, then I strongly recommend spending a day here.

His wife and children continue Steve’s work for charity and they put on a special Steve Irwin Day at the Zoo every November. Bindi now has her own clothes line and even her own doll.

Steve Irwin was an Aussie Ambassador. Thank goodness his exploits have been captured on film. He is sadly missed.

Beaches, Bars, Restaurants And Apartments Los Cristianos

August 11, 2009 by Lorenzo Jacabo

The Island of Tenerife is the largest in the Canary Island Chain, as such it is a popular holiday spot and apartments in Los Cristianos offer the visitor a more laid-back holiday. It is situated close to Playa de las Americas, a vibrant, lively, large resort, but far enough away to offer the vacationer a more peaceful experience.

Los Cristianos is situated in the south-west of Tenerife and many holiday makers have enjoyed this quiet resort, which grew from a small fishing village. Holidaying at this spot started becoming popular about 40 years ago and although it is no longer the same sleepy fishing village, it has kept some of its charm.

You will find Los Cristianos in a sheltered cove and part of the charm is the working harbor. The harbor is not one of the focal points of the town and where much of the shopping and restaurants are found. This is where the promenade and the square features and, and the promenade stretches to Playa de las Americas.

The main thoroughfare is a pedestrian only street and is part of the old town. Local people still live in this part of town! The best beaches on the island are man-made with dessert sand imported from the Sahara, and the best beach is Playa de las Vistas in Playa de las Americas. It is only a short taxi drive from Los Cristianos, and makes for a great day out.

Duty free (or low duty) shopping is one of the many pleasures of visiting Tenerife. Souvenir hunters enjoy taking cultured pearls back home from the island as well as hand crafted goods. There are also a large variety of shops where cameras, tobacco, electrical goods, designer clothes and perfume can be found at cheaper prices.

Supermarkets are filled with popular English brands, particularly those in the San Eugene center. There is a street market on a Sunday where merchandise can be purchased cheaply, it is great fun to visit this market and haggle with the locals for discounts.

Restaurants are many and varied, are all of a very high standard where you will find every conceivable kind of cuisine. If you fancy Indian or Mexican food, or just plain bacon and eggs, you will find it. There are also a few night clubs, discos and lively pubs, but most people venture to Playa de las Americas for their night life thrills.
